イギリスのメディア、BBCが今後の活躍が期待されるアーティストを表彰するSound of 2023が発表されました。
過去にEllie Goulding、Years & Years、Sam Smithなども選出されたこの企画は、イギリスの音楽シーンで毎年注目されています。
今回はこのSound Of 2023からBUTTERが注目するアーティストをピックアップして紹介します。
FLO
Sound of 2023の第1位に輝いたのは、Jorja Douglas、Stella Quaresma、Renée DownerによるロンドンのR&B／ポップ・グループ、FLO(フロー)。
高音域のStella、中音域のJorja、低音域のRenéeが織りなす甘美なハーモニーは、Destiny's Child、TLC、SWVといったR&Bグループを彷彿とさせます。
2022年月にデビューシングル「Cardboard Box」、同年7月のデビューEP『The Lead』はこれまでに7,000万回以上のストリーミングを記録。
また、FLOはSound Of 2023のほかにイギリスの音楽賞、Brit Awards 2023のライジング・スター賞も受賞しています。

Gabriels
Gabriels(ゲイブリエルズ)は、ゴスペル／R&BシンガーのJacob Lusk、プロデューサー／キーボード奏者のRyan Hope、プロデューサー／作曲家／ヴァイオリン奏者のAri Balouzianからなるモダンソウル・トリオ。
2022年9月に発表したデビューアルバム『ANGELS＆QUEENS - PART1』は、ヴィンテージソウルサウンドが堪能できる1枚です。2023年春には、本作のパート2のリリースを控えています。
